I had the chance to do a residency at La Reserve des Art Sud in Marseille. A place where they collect and do up all kind of materials and make them accessible for artists and designers. The material comes as “rubbish” from fashion shows, museums, theaters or shop-interiors. At my time there I tried to find different methods to treat old, defect or boring materials and give them a new life. Various surface treatments have been developed that either utilize or conceal the imperfections of the material and at the same time create new ornamentation. A series of furniture evolved to manifest those methods, from hammered chipboard to perforated MDF.
